About the FDTC

After 6 years working in and around finance teams, the FDTC was born in Oxfordshire, UK to help office teams better use Excel and Power BI



Starting in 2017…

…we focused initially on informally teaching Excel skills to small groups of colleagues. In 2019, the FDTC started to create online tutorials and videos to help Finance and non Finance staff alike to use Excel more efficiently and accurately. Graduating from teaching ‘core’ Excel skills like aggregation functions and pivot tables, we created courses in Power Query in Excel (now ‘Get Data and Transform’), the add-in PowerPivot, and then in late 2019, our first, 2 day, in person, Power BI course. It was exciting!

Then of course, in early 2020 Covid interrupted the World’s day to day business and further in person training opportunities were understandably limited.

At the FDTC, we took the time to consider feedback from our first Power BI course, both positive and constructive to build a course that could transform someone from Power BI novice to competent report developer. In 2024, after well over 1000 hours of design, scripting, recording and editing, we launched our flagship Power BI course; Living With Power BI, a course designed to give those starting out in Power BI, 3 years worth of Power BI development experience in 3 days.
